SCUBA diving and snorkeling in Puerto Morelos are spectacular because the reef right out front was declared a National Marine Park in 1998. It’s less visited, and therefore healthier than the reefs for diving in Cancun or snorkeling in Playa del Carmen.

Tourism on the reef has been controlled and is one of the best kept secrets of the Great Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, running from Mexico to Honduras. The reef offers an incredibly rich biodiversity including many colorful species of fish, corals and other extraordinary sea creatures.
