Walk the Beach

Puerto Morelos has miles and miles of beautiful Caribbean beach with white sands and beautiful waves. Relax while listening to the sounds of the ocean.

The Jungle Spa offers massages by local Mayan women in the quiet tranquility of the jungle. Just a short drive thru the colonia to a relaxing massage experience. Los Colibries is a new massage service located on the Ruta de Los Cenotes at Km 15. Martina, who lives in Puerto Morelos, offers massages at your place or hers.

 

Go Snorkeling or Scuba Diving

Snorkeling and Scubadiving in Puertos Morelos is very popular. The Mesoamerican Reef System is so close to the shore that it forms a natural barrier for the town and keeps the waters really calm and shallow. Stringent environmental regulations have kept this part of the reef unspoiled. Only tour operators that adhere to the guidelines are allowed to offer snorkel trips here.

Visit the Botanical Garden

Located 2 kilometers south of the Puerto Morelos turnoff from Cancun on highway 307, the Alfredo Barrera Marín Botanical Garden is one of the largest botanical gardens in the country and is a beautiful location to get up close and personal with the local flora and fauna. The garden also hosts a large animal population, including the only troops of coastal spider monkeys left in the region.

Swim in a Cenote

The Ruta de Los Cenotes (Cenote Route) is a road found just south of Puerto Morelos. Look for the arches above the road to the west of highway 307. There are several cenotes along here, also known as sinkholes. These cenotes are a natural marvel feeding from underground streams and rivers that are all under the Yucatan peninsula.

Visit the Mayan Ruins

The Yucatan Peninsula is home to many ancient Mayan Ruins including several with easy driving distance of Puerto Morelos. These include the ruins at Tulum, Coba, Uxmal and Chichen Itza.

Conveniently located near Puerto Morelos, in the heart of the lush Riviera Maya jungle between Cancun and Playa del Carmen, is the El Rey Polo Club , featuring the only regulation polo field in southeastern Mexico.

Help a Local Charity

The Little English Schoolhouse is a non-profit project started in 
Puerto Morelos to bring English to the local Spanish speaking 
adults and children.

Although English is taught in the local schools, it is not at a level 
that provides the students a real "working” fluency.  Additionally,  
most families do not have the funds to  send their children to 
English programs.  For many of this future generation, English 
skills can provide opportunities they would never encounter 
otherwise.
